Obituary-Mildred McEachern
The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, March 30,2022, of Mildred McEachern nee Keown at MuskokaLanding in Huntsville. She was 96 and was predeceasedby her husband of 37 years, Murray McEachern. Theyare survived by their 3 children: Andy McEachern(Valerie), Ruth McEachern-Ross (Charles) and PennyMcEachern; 5 grandchildren, Robbie Drebitt, Anna Haley (David), AmyAubin (Stephen), Murray Ross (Lee), Grace McEachern, DonaldMcEachern (Shannon) and 6 great grandchildren; Travis and EthanMcEachern, Myla and Harper Haley, Hallie and Elijah Aubin.Known locally as Grandma Millie, she was born and raised in Dwight andhelped her mother and siblings run Gouldie House.Her life, apart from raising her family and spending time at the familycottage on Red Chalk Lake, was busy doing extensive volunteer work. Amember of Knox United Church and the UCW, member of DorsetLifeliners, Brownie Leader, Camp cook for local Brownies, Guides andPathfinders patrols at Doe Lake and Adelaide camps. A member of theTall Pines Snowmobile Club, member of the Order of the Eastern Starand canvasser for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the CanadianCancer Society for over 35 years. She also served with the Wrens duringWorld War 2, joining up when she was 18. Her expertise at making buttertarts was legendary in Dorset and beyond.Our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Muskoka Landing who took suchexcellent care of Mom during her last years. We also appreciate the kindcondolences expressed by family and friends. Burial and service atPaint Lake Cemetery will take place on May 14 at 2 pm.
